  • Ask A Simple Question, Get A Simple Answer: Prometheans Edition

Konradleijon pointed out that we didn't have one of these and they are always useful for preventing thread clutter, so I made one. Questions can be for 1e or 2e but you should clearly mark which edition you're asking about, as mechanics vary substantially. Now for the inaugural question:

In 2e, is there anyone besides Beasts and other (sometimes former) Prometheans who are immune to Disquiet?

That is actually in some dispute, as I recall. Stereotype quotes indicate that Unchained may be affected, even if they realize something is going on.

      Are Fetches still unaffected?

Here’s the relevant excerpt (Disquiet and Torment make Prometheans and those around them unpredictable, and every spy knows there’s nothing worse than someone that draws bad attention and can’t be controlled. Disquiet is rarely a problem for the Unchained, though. Their minds being quantum computers that exist outside of normal space and time, only a demon’s Cover is influenced by the supernatural hatred that Prometheans draw out of those they meet. A demon can refuse to “play along,” but such a contradiction in the order of things will draw the God- Machine’s attention as long as a human disguise is employed.)

Most of the questions about how or if Disquiet affects other supernaturals in 2e haven't been answered yet. As I understand it, that will be one of many things that the upcoming Contagion Chronicle will address.

Where is the source on that?

I'm wondering has there been anything substantial in terms of hints on exactly what the Principle is or is the best we got is just from the Core, with it's open ended theories? I doubt there really has been any but I'm just asking to be sure.

My finally use that - In 2E, is there way to control choosing of Refinement in other Created character? Cause something like that happened in Westworld lately...

What do you mean by choosing? Like you as a character influencing what Refinement one goes into? I guess but only through talking and taunting. Getting someone into Tin would probably be easier, all you have to do is really piss them off.

The 1E book Pandora's Book has a chapter on the qashmallim and the Principle, but it's more like "here is what it would be like if one of these 3 or 4 things were true" than a single definite statement. I remember reading one of the devs saying of 2E "some of us write with the assumption that the Principle is the creator God, some of us write it as a mindless emergent property of the Divine Fire, some of us write it as a conscious being actively trying to achieve some kind of New Dawn of its own," which I take to mean that there is not a canon answer that there could be hints about. When I run Promethean I just pick something and treat that as true, which I think is the idea.
