Three-Mile, one of the example Zeky in Night Horrors: the Tormented, has cables and tubes making up most of her throat, and tubes running out of and back into her body — most of her skin used to be an experimental hazmat suit. The rest of the section she's mentioned in likewise discusses how the Nuclear Prometheans can be biomechanical horrors — the Thin Man has a wrist-mounted cannon, and Arclight has lighting coils coming out of their body.

It's a long-established thing that Prometheans can be made from corpses with nonliving materials filling in the gaps, and the Unfleshed becoming a mainstream lineage in 2e further blurs the line, albeit usually not to the degree of explicit horror as the Zeky live with.

    • Assuming a Centimanus has access to Vitriol and wants to restart their Pilgrimage, can they Calcify Flux Alembics? Or is that not something they can do because the Refinement of Flux has no Roles?

I dont think "calcify" and flux are compatable. But I could see a sort of Jovian cousin Athanor.

On the one hand, Centimani who'd changed their bodies with Pandoran Transmutations retained them in 1e. On the other hand, 2e models that with the Mutation Alembic's Persistent effect, which explicitly doesn't require you to retain the use of the Alembic to keep those changes.

On the one hand, the entropic tilt of Flux is such that it would make sense for it to be possible for an adherent to the philosophy of the force that mutates things into uselessness to be able to permanently dedicate part of their metaphysical nature to powers built to serve that force's non-purposes. On the other hand, the easiest way to retain powers useful for Centimani is by remaining a Centimanus, particularly since instead of Role mastery Flux Alembics are gained as a function of time spend in the Refinement.

I'd lean no, if only because there's no listed drawbacks of using Flux Alembics while not being a Centimanus and the one example of retaining an effect past the abandoning of the Refinement marks the permanent acquisition of entropic Transmutations as a step backwards for characters that normally have stopped tracking steps on the Pilgrimage.

          • So, I finally cracked open my Prometheus book, I got, when I saw the receipt fall out, on April 20th, 2010, for $13 bucks at a local used book-store at 8:00pm (what was I doing shopping that late, besides buying beer?); it's hard for me to find a practical-use for that book besides, a fantasy RPG involving the creation of a flesh-army etc. So, could, a character with Second Sight rules create a Promethean?

As in could a psychic or thaumaturge or cultist from that book create a Promethean? Sure. There might be some muddling given that reaching for the Divine Fire is sort of a sideways application of power from the ones more immediately available to them, but with the appropriate drive and obsession anyone can be a conduit for the Pyros to give life to one of the Created.

Think buying a bag of chips from a gas station attendant you've never met before.

Standing in line. Sitting in front of you on the bus. Being at the same AA meeting.

A scene of superficial social contact is any scene in which you're aware of the Promethean's presence and interaction below the level that would trigger Disquiet for conversing for more than a few minutes, exchanging personal information, or having rolls made for the Promethean to try to seduce/intimidate/manipulate/etc you. It's there to make Disquiet a threat even if you don't talk to anybody or do anything supernatural.

                    • Fun rules question I've been investigating: Can Prometheans heal naturally?

Pg. 211 heavily implies that they do not with the header "Mortal Healing" Although the Imperatus Alembic give the persistent ability:
"Persistent: The Promethean has a constant flow of electricity trickling in from slight gradations of static electricity, providing a slight regenerative effect. The Created halves all healing times."
In first edition it does state that Prometheans heal like mortals.

They can. I made the error when I put up my combat thread and had it pointed out to me that they can-I'll get you a page citation when I can.

This'un here, now that I'm not on mobile.

(We apparently saw this question at the same time, because I saw your reply while I was searching for the thread to get the post.)
