Another one for the batch. I hope you guys enjoy. I know that many people already portted this old Coil from 1st edition, but I wanted to add my insights and changes to it.
Mystery of the Blood
The scholars of the Voivode study the power of the Vitae over bonds and progeny, but those of the Mystery of the Blood ponder about the nature of Vitae itself. For them, Vitae is as much of a blessing as it is a curse. Initiates of the Mystery believe that by overcoming the need for Vitae a Dragon can finally use it as it should be, a weapon and not a hindrance. So far, the studies have wielded great results, but not yet to the point where the Kindred will let go of their need for blood.
Scales of the Blood can strength the Vitae of the Dragon, allowing him to wake up torpid Kindreds and to preserve blood outside a living vessel for later consumption, allowing for extended periods of fasting in attempts to master the need for blood. Extended periods of fasting, consumption of blood beyond the capacity of the body, hunger induced frenzy are common practices. The aim is to understand at what lengths the Dragon’s body is controlled by Vitae. For when Vitae is only a fuel for the Disciplines and powers and not a dire necessity, the next step into the evolution can be taken.
Coil of the Blood
The Blood Bank •
A Dragon need for blood starts no different from others of his kind, were he still needs it, he at least found a way to harbor more. The Dragon can store half his Coil of the Blood rating rounded up Vitae. The player add his Coil of the Blood rating to his starting Vitae.
Blood Seeps Slowly ••
With a newfound understanding of his Vitae, the Dragon can now better animate his body. He only needs to expend Vitae to wake up once per Coil of the Blood rating days. He still needs to expend Vitae if he wishes to awake in the morning, the Sun still proves itself as a difficult enemy without the help of other means.
Defeat of Famine •••
The Dragon has defeated Famine, and now it poses no threat. A Dragon who has learned this Coil no longer risks frenzy from hunger. She may be a dried up corpse but will retain total self control.
Rise of the Hemomancer ••••
Vitae is the fuel for the dark powers that the Kindred have, and many first need to strong its connections with it until it proves more useful. The Dragon learned how to mature his blood faster than normal. Every dot of Blood Potency bought cost 1 less experience.
Blood Unleashed •••••
This Coil represents the furthest that the Mystery of the Blood has achieved in empowering the properties of Vitae. Several properties of the Vitae are increased. When healing, every point of Vitae can now heal three bashing, finally, he gets a discount when activating disciplines and devotions, expending one less Vitae, to a minimum of one.
Sample Scales of the Blood
Living Host Extrapolation
Prerequisite Coil: The Blood Bank
Procedure: The Dragon extracts the blood of a human or Kindred subject and mix it with a specially prepared oil that preserves its properties. This mix can be inserted into an animal up to one month after the concoction is prepared. Draining all the animal blood and inserting the mixture in its place, the animal must have appropriate size to carry all the mixture.
Outcome: The animal blood is treated as if it had human or Kindred blood for every point of Vitae -1 invested into the mixture, to a maximum of the animal size. Kindred blood still carries risk of Addiction and can cause Vinculum as normal, with the Regnant being the donor. This mixture is higly toxic, and the animal carrier will likely die in a couple hours after the infusion.
Blood Reduction
Prerequisite Coil: Rise of the Hemomancer
Procedure: The Dragon fills a large bottle, prepared ahead of time with alchemical mixtures and boil it over the course of three hours.
Outcome: For every three points of Vitae spilled into the mixture increase the mixtures’s effective Blood Potency by one when determining if it is potent enough to wake up torpid Kindred. It only generate enough Vitae for a single dose and it uses this temporary Blood Potency for the attempt of waking up the Kindred in question.
