  • [2ed] Kiasyd Bloodline

Hi guys, this is the first bloodline adaptation that I create. It's an adaptation from the Kiasyd(Vampire the Masquerade).
I'm accepting sugestions and corrections(I'm not very good at english).

    Kiasyd

I have not invited you. Leave. Do not touch anything, except the floor and the door, or I swear upon the moon and the stars that I will throw you inside this mirror until dawn.

The Kiasyd are an ancient and mysterious bloodline. Some Mekhet say that they come from another world, but some elders from the Ordo Dracul say that they come from a mortal who was touched by the Fae and them embraced. If this history is true or false, the Kiasyd doesn’t seem to remember, or care, but their great knowledge about the Fae creatures is indeed a fact that they guard with pride.
They often wander through the Hedge for, what they call, “research”. They have an extense written knowledge about the Hedge and its creatures.

Background: Some Kindred belive that the Kiasyd are an old bloodline, maybe because they are secretive and reserved. They doesn’t seem to have a consensus about when or where they were originated, but some speculate that they came to the Kindred society in the Middle Ages.
They tend to pass their Requiems studying the Hedge and the incredible creatures presented there. A Kiasyd diary is one of the most valuable books that a changeling can hope to read in his life… or not.

The Becoming: Kiasyd are chosen from these rarest people who are truly obsessed with myths, some Kiasyd even like to throw some of them on the Hedge and watch as they try to escape, this rarely result in a candidate returning, because the Hedge is the fence which separate our world from Faerie, and the Fae are well know for capturing people who wander without caution trough the Hedge.
There are a few “fortunate” candidates that are selected from birth and trained to study and research myths for their strange masters. Because of this, there are only few Kiasyd.

In the Danse Macabre: Kiasyd don’t tend to participate actively in the Kindred society. But that’s not exactly a problem, because they don’t have enough members to be well spread across the world. This gives them a status of reclusive or weird, sometimes both. Sometimes they like to act as diplomats between the Vampires and the Changelings.
When Kiasyd join the a covenant, they tend toward the Ordo Dracul to further bolster they researchs or to the Circle of the Crone as a way of exploring their rituals. Some elders have joined the Invictus.

    Nickname: Keepers, Weirdlings (Outsiders)
    Clan: Mekhet

Bloodline Bane: Kiasyd blood is attuned to Faerie and its creatures. Exposition to Cold Iron cause burns in their skin. Weapons made from Cold Iron deal extra damage. This damage is based on the Kiasyd humanity (Use sun exposure damage, but don’t multiply based on BP).
Bloodline Disciplines: Auspex, Celerity, Obfuscate, Dominate

    Mytherceria

The Kiasyd gift is Mytherceria, this strange blood sorcery emulates some of the Fae abilities. They can open portals to the Hedge, see past the Fae glamour and many other things. Lastly, they can understand the Taboos of the creatures from the Hedge and the meaning of a True Name.
All Kyasid gain the Fae Vision, upon joining the bloodline and can buy Mytherceria as a blood sorcery for the cost of 3 Experiences points. Mytherceria behaves similarly to Cruác.

    Fae Vision
Glamour its the source that the fae people use to hide their deeds, it shapes the mortal vision to something that isn't strange. By focusing his vision and spending 1 point of Vitae, the eyes of the Kiasyd turn completely black and his vision can pierce the fae Glamour and it's illusions. This effect let the Kiasyd see the true form of changelings outside the Hedge and to sense natural entrances to the Hedge. This effect last for 1 scene.

    Rituals

Dice Pool: Manipulation + Occultism + Mytherceria
Cost: 1 point of Vitae per level of the ritual
    Action: Extended (Same as Cruác)

    Level 1 Rituals

    Open the Gate
    Target Number of Successes: 5
Special:This ritual doesn't cost Vitae inside the Hedge.
The Kiasyd opens an existing portal for the Hedge. If lefted unused the portal remains open for a scene and allow outsiders to gaze the surrounding Hedge, if someone enters, it starts to collapse and remains open for (Potency) turns, only one person can enter through the portal per turn.

    Darkling Trickery
    Target Number of Successes: 6
This ritual can impose the Spooked Condition to a victim by creating some minor distraction (a flower that sprouts from their ear), or create an aura of a fae effect in yourself, like changing the color of the flames to blue where you pass or spoiling milk or crops. The effect last for a full scene and you need something from your target to curse them, like hair or some personal possession. The victim must be within mile when the ritual is performed.

    Folderol Fragrance
    Target Number of Successes: 6
The Kiasyd creates a perfume that can pierce through lies. The next (Potency) lies told to the Kiasyd that night will make the liar bite his tongue, this causes a single point of bashing damage. Supernatural forms of lying are subject to a Clash of Wills.

    Level 2 Rituals

    Gnomes of Stone
    Target Number of Successes: 8
This ritual summon gnomes to help warp and reshape stone. They can excavate (Potency x 10) yards per application of this ritual trough stone and can help you navigate in underground envirionments. The gnomes are invisible to most humans, but anyone capable of piercing the fae Glamour(changelings and some other creatures) can see them. They'll stay around for a full scene.

    The Harvest
    Target Number of Successes: 7
Special: This ritual doesn't cost Vitae, it cost 1 WP instead.
This ritual can only be used against someone who is sleeping. By touching the victims head, the ritualist regains Vitae equals (Potency). This Vitae taste like a livid torrential of dreams. You can only feed from the same subject once per week. You can even feed from another Kindred using this ritual but you risk Frenzy doing so, because you feed from the nightmares of the Beast, Vitae acquired this way doesn't upgrade Vinculum stages and isn't addictive(is rather scary), but count as Kindred Vitae for purpose of limitations on Blood Potency feeding. This ritual doesn't cause any damage on the victim.

    Level 3 Rituals

    Home Portal
    Target Number of Successes: 6
This ritual allows for a creation of a new gateway for the Hedge. While the specifics may vary, the Kiasyd tends to create something of personal value for him. This gateway can be open with "Open the Gate" or by another creature with the ability of opening portal between dimensions. The gateway created last until this ritual is used again to create another gateway or until the Kiasyd falls in torpor.

    Fauns Labyrinth
    Target Number of Successes: 8
The Kiasyd marks an area no bigger than a city block with his vitae. Anyone inside this area must be successful in a Wits + Composure or suffer a penalty to all perception rolls equals (Potency). Even the ones who passed the roll tend to get lost inside the area, not knowing how to get out. Attempting to leave the area will consume (Potency/2) hours. This ritual remains active for a week.

    Screaming Ward
    Target Number of Successes: 7
This ritual creates (Potency) seeds that can be planted in different areas. They won't grow if not planted at least 10 feet from each other. Once the seeds has been planted, the Kiasyd drops a single drop of water and specify one target (humans, ghouls, vampires, etc), the plant fully grows in a few moments and resembles the Dieffenbachia seguine. When the target come at least 10 feet of distance from it, the plant will scream loudly, causing 2 points of bashing damage and the Deaf tilt for (10 - target Stamina) turns, after this, the plant will wither and turn into dust. Any other people withim 30 feet are affected too. The Kiasyd knows when a plant is activated. If this ritual is used again to create more seeds, the active plants wither and turn into dust.

    Level 4 Rituals

    Riddle Phantastique
    Target Number of Successes: 8
This powerful ritual curses the mind of a victim with a riddle that denies logic and reason. The Kyasid needs something very personal from the victim, like a piece of hair, blood or her favorite clothes. For the remaining of the night, all Mental rolls the victim does are reduced to a chance die. After (Potency) fails or a single Critical fail, the ritual ends. Lefting the victim with the riddle solved, the answer being the name of the Kyasid.

    Level 5 Rituals

    Steal the Mind
    Target Number of Successes: 10
Like the denizens of beyond the Hedge, the Kyasid knows how to toy with his victim memories. For this ritual to be used, the victim needs to be present during the whole process. The Kyasid temporarily removes (Potency) memories from his victim, inflicting the False Memories Condition. Those memories can be stored in bottles for up to a month, during that time the Kyasid can drink those memories to get the Informed Condition on any rolls pertaining those memories. After a month passes of the night after the Kyasid drinks the potions, the Victim regain her memories.

      Watching this for updates.

BTW, there's a small typo wherein you wrote Khaibit instead of Kiasyd.

          Noted

So, am I going to assume the rituals you'll be creating for Mytherceria will be more or less translations from the OWoD Discipline? Or perhaps you're going to be looking to some Changeling Contracts (most likely the Universal and Goblin ones) for additional inspiration?

I already have a bunch of rituals from lvl 1 to 3, but they are all in portuguese. I'm going to eat something and them I'll translate them. I used the 3 different Mytherceria Disciplines from OWoD and I picked some fairy tales concepts too, like Pan's Labyrinth.

These look good, so far, barring a few tidbits that need clarifying or revising. The ones I can point out, at the moment are these...

              Open the Gate
              Target Number of Successes: 5
The Kiasyd opens an artificial portal for the Frontier. The portal last for a full scene and can allow for (Potency) people to enter. This ritual doesn't cost Vitae inside the Frontier.

Perhaps you can rewrite this instead to have the portal lasting for a number of turns equal to Potency? 1E Changeling states that a Hedge Gate opens for a number of turns equal to the activating Changeling's Wyrd after it is no longer being used.

              Folderol Fragrance
              Target Number of Successes: 6
The Kiasyd creates a perfume that can pierce through lies. The next (Potency) lies told to the Kiasyd that night will make the liar bite his tongue, this causes a single point of bashing damage. Supernatural tentatives of lying are subject to a Clash of Wills.

In the last sentence, were you meaning to say "supernatural forms of lying are subject to a Clash of Wills"?

I really like this. Could use a bit more detail overall, but definitely like the idea of updating them to CofD. A couple of suggestions for Mythercaria:
*Some of your rituals don't list their range, which Cruac tends to make clear in the ritual description. Usually it's either they need to be in your presence or within a mile, depending. I tend to suggest the latter for anything 'hostile' since you rarely have someone around long enough to cast a ritual if you want to cause problems for them.
*Open the gate should probably be higher than level 1 if it actualyl creates a new portal. At level 1, even for Mytherceria, I'd suggest it need to be used to open an existing gateway.
*Gnomes of stone should perhaps say they can be seen only by those that can see past the Mask normally (so both Ensorcelled mortals and those with mask-piercing powers can potentially see them).
*The harvest doesn't say if the target loses health/vitae like with normal feeding. If they do, it should probably be higher level, IMO.

I appreciate the feedback so far.

I'm waiting for Changeling 2ed to have a better understanding of how rare the gateways will be, but the original idea is to give a the Kiasyd a way to interact with the Frontier from home, I made some changes to the ritual, but you're probably right, maybe a level 2 ritual?

I can see wanting to wait until Changeling 2e to get a better idea. In the meantime, I'd split it into two rituals; a level one ritual that can open existing gateways, and a level 3 ritual for creating a new one. But that's just my view of it. Still, 3rd level is when most powers start crossing into other realms so fully.
