Bane: Clan Ventrue

Hi guys! I have a doubt concerning Ventrue's Bane. On sourcebook, page 103, you can read that:

" When creating a Ventrue, apply his first Touchstone to his seventh dot of Humanity. This means his first Humanity loss will also detach that Touchstone as the bane takes effect. Further Touchstones may fill his sixth through second dots."

Does this mean a Ventrue no longer has a Bane once he first loses his seventh dot of Humanity? Isn't it a Bane that's easy to overcome because you can simply buy one dot of Touchstone and have a new one attached to your Humanity 6? All other clans have really strong and persistent banes, which stay for you the entire game once you first get to Humanity 6. Ventrue's the opposite. When I read Ventrue's bane, I think it's too easy for them. I see as if they have an advantage which is easy to lose or reinforce/replace, and which does not hinder you once you get to Humanity 6, because he "loses the bane" once he loses the seventh dot.

Did I misread something or did not pay attention to some detail? Is this it?

I think this bane looks less punishing purely mechanically. If you think of the in game effort required to justify purchasing that one dot, I mean you have develop a genuine relationship with somebody, not easy.

It took me a while to grok it, but I have the unpopular opinion that the Ventrue bane is the secret MVP of the clan curses. That said, it does tend to work best if you really buy into the Touchstone subsystem. If players aren't as interested in that mode of play, it can be less interesting.

But yeah, those other threads go over it pretty thoroughly.

Yeah, everybody else has provided very illuminating answers. Just my two sense, but I think the key to making a Ventrue who compellingly interacts with their curse is to look at the flavor text of it. Once you drop to Humanity 6, recognize that your Touchstone is still important to your character, but they're not keeping you from degenerating. Ventrue are detached from the most important people in their life. How does that affect their interactions with less important people? If you only visit the woman you were supposed to have loved in life out of a sense of obligation and weird attachment, how do you feel about Joe your former neighbor, who you could tell to jump off a roof with a stern glance and a burst of power? It's actually really scary, because the Ventrue curse has so much hidden implication for them as people.
