Yeah, that's ridiculous.

It's far from balanced. Anything that becomes an instant win button without extremely heavy drawbacks is, frankly, terrible design. There's a reason Efficient Killer isn't popular despite it's many limitations, and that one doesn't even guarantee a kill unlike your suggestion. You should really reconsider.

I don't understand your arguments against aggravated damage when this is an instant-kill attack. 5 dots of renown aren't exactly going to be common, and you can balance it out by having it cost 5 Essence for the scene, or one per turn like Crimson Spasm. Call it 'Bane of All Things,' with Luna as Queen of the Shadow granting werewolves the hidden weakness in all things, even those which don't ordinarily have banes. Limit it to claws,if you want, so they won't 'regen' the Essence back via eating, and you have a fairly powerful but not unreasonably so gift that relies entirely on the werewolf's ability to use it while still leaving powerful enemies the opportunity to leave or throw minions in the way.

My core idea is to unite the old rank 5 gifts and make a new gift that is none of them.
What elements the gift must have:
a) it must be used in all forms
b) it must aid the werewolf to kill prey more easily
c)It must be costly, be it like 1st edition luna's fury or 2nd edition crimson spasm, or a 2-3 essence cost but with deadly effect
d)it must have an effect no otger gift has.
Since you ask for somthing more balanced, Here is something more balanced:
Pulse of the Killer: The werewolf Spends an Essence point for each character he intents to kill, for the scene the characters that have been marked by the Rahu lose one health level from their health pool for every point of Purity Renown the Werewolf has, they don't take damage, it is just that the Rahu needs to make that less damage in order to kill them, the Rahu may use the gift to as many enemies as his Purity Renown dots.

Either way I left my suggestion there you don't have to go with it.
But if you're converting these over for a player, you're really giving them powerful and game changing weapons in this conversion.

Because if I give to that character direct aggravated damage he will be too much with his allready gigantic damage potential
I believe the last gift I posted is closer to 2nd edition forsaken, it may still need work but I think is the best so far.
What do you think ?
Please keep suggesting, you are helpful, you make me think options.

Not one success, a contested roll, unlikely to kill something with gargantuan size, except if you roll insanely well on the activation roll and mange to do damage as well.
Also I think you haven't noticed this yet:
''Pulse of the Killer: The werewolf Spends an Essence point for each character he intents to kill, for the scene the characters that have been marked by the Rahu lose one health level from their health pool for every point of Purity Renown the Werewolf has, they don't take damage, it is just that the Rahu needs to make that less damage in order to kill them, the Rahu may use the gift to as many enemies as his Purity Renown dots.''

I was thinking about a few things for it. I got stuck with a couple of the renown. One of them, I figured, would allow access to silver claws or fangs, which would be thematically appropriate.
But basing it off the original wolf slayer gift, I figured you could have Cunning penalize extrasensory chances to notice the Gifted werewolf by their Cunning, tied with an ability to spend an Essence to cut the blood tracer ties one gets by tasting a target's blood. Honor would force Uratha you're fighting with from going gauru and into death rage, effectively eliminating triggers on both of you, for Honor dots in turns after your last attack, the effect breaking if you went gauru yourself. Part of me wants to have the ability break if someone else goes gauru nearby, so you could avoid 'one person locks the werewolf down while your six packmates go gauru on him.' I like the idea of one of them, probably Glory, turning your normal regeneration from Bashing to Lethal for a scene at a fairly low cost.
Really though it's an incredibly niche Gift, hard to find even among spirits. And I wish that the forum's 'lets make new gifts' opportunity would be for unique but prevalent things like Gifts of Fire or Gifts of Murder or Gifts of Greed and the other eight sins and so on. Like even 'Wolf Slaying' seems like it would be better replaced by a Gift of Silver. I appreciate this is driven by your desire to convert a character's gifts, however.Last edited by nofather; 09-30-2017, 02:45 PM.
