  • Primal Urge 2-5 and Food Bills

I don't expect anyone to take this topic seriously, as it's something my friends and I joked about at the table, but man does your food bill go through the roof if meat is the only thing that gives you sustenance. Even worse if your character is physically really fit, trying to meet a 3k+ calories a day could break the bank. Going hunting every weekend suddenly becomes a lot more important to manage those costs, either for wild game or spirits if you can start nibbling on those early on.

Only small mercy I can see is that my ST has ruled that you don't have to worry about calories that don't come from meat, nor do you have to worry about getting your micro nutrients or fibre

No wait, there's an easy solution here. Just buy all-meat dog food. It'd be cheaper per calorie than a lot of people's actual diets. I'm sure they would be absolutely no social or metaphysical ramifications from a half-spirit super-predator eating human-made food intended for domesticated canines.

The longer I study science the more I am convinced that it is functionally indistinguishable from what our ancestors would refer to as sorcery. And I would know, being both scientist and sorcerer.

What do you mean? Human society is filled with meat, and by the time that's a demand, you're probably used to the screaming.

Your ST may vary but I see no reason fish shouldn’t count. And a lot of the most commonly-eaten fish are carnivores too so you’re even good at PU 6-7.

I wouldn't be surprised if some enterprising Iron Masters or a Wolf-Blooded would have a meal kit business and sneak in a "carnivore's course" menu into it. Its a steady source of revenue and a way discover the occasional werewolf that is staying under the radar.

Fish is hella expensive though isn't it? I mean, i guess canned tuna will hold you for PU 2-3, but past that, it's got to be fresh or frozen and that isn't cheap. Probably also something to be thrown on the hunting list.

I know it technically does, which I'm going to say is good enough. And hey, bugs are much cheaper than animals.

Depends on where you live. In a coastal town with a proper fish market you could get some real cheap fish as long as you're not too picky about which kind. Probably cheaper than refrigerated meat in the local grocery store.

Well, the game I'm in is set in Coney Island, so I guess? I have no idea what fish is like in Coney.

Right, I completely forgot about that. So character can start with insects and then move up to frogs on top of predatory fish and the like.
