  • So We're Gonna See Pangaea

DaveB has told us that the Neolithic setting in Dark Eras takes place before the Sundering. So, we'll be seeing Pangaea or at least something like it.

    Thoughts?

If anyone hears erratic, girlish shrieking from somewhere far away, it's just me.

Seriously, I have been waiting for this moment for a long, long time. It's been hinted at that the tribes were founded during the times of prehistoric humanity, so if I'm right, this means that the werewolves seeking out the Firstborn didn't happen long after the fall of the Border Marches.

    Seriously, seriously pumped for this.

To manage your expectations, you should read the second edition version of the Sundering myth.

I like it as a setting to make use of, but like many fantastic historic kinds of settings I have a hard time imagining I'll ever use it as the BASE location for a game. More like I would use it for a back story or for a strange plot twist to visit the locale temporarily. WoD in the "somewhere around now" is what I'll always go back to.

Still I like it. It seems like it will have an "Age of Legends" feel. Would have preferred pirates.

It's huge. Like, holy hell, I thought the Sundering was further back than that. I'm still trying to process what this means. But one thing is certain, it's a very interesting and dangerous time for Werewolves. All werewolves.

Nope, my expectations are pretty well managed! Border marches, the two worlds being much more readily traversed, Spinner Hags and Plague Kings and Idigam.

              I'm good with this.

I'm reminded of the song Feral Love by Chelsea Wolfe.

run from the light your eyes, black like an animal
                deep in the wander
and care for no one but the offspring of your might
run from the one who comes to find you
wait for the night that comes to hide

I just hope the Firstborn wander the world as demigods.

I gotta wonder, will the Gauru rules from The Wolves of Bau be in effect?

Something like that, given that werewolves aren't Forsaken yet.

                        You don't have it yet?

I can buy it for you, if you want.

The description of "Anpu" guarding the border between the world of the living and what lays beyond in "The Deceived" for Mummy, really made me think of Father Wolf... my current headcanon (that the chapter may contradict of course), is that the Bordermarches are universal boundary, realms not being clearly distinct from each other yet. A human returning from the Land of the Dead (*Bound*) or the Land of the Gods (*Changeling*) would need to cross it, and fall under the prey purview of Father Wolf and his Brood.

You know, I have never run into this many fans of a game who hadn't bought stuff like this ever before.

Apparently a substantial part of the Onyx Path Tribe is devoted to the Lodge of the Poor Fanboy.

Not that I'm exactly in any other lodge.
