  • Enhanced Items, Forsaken Style

I am sitting in a Farmers market far from home drinking mushroom ice coffee, and I am watching people set up there wares. It got me thinking.

Can you create "enhanced Items", similar to those found in awakening, by bonding a weapon or item to the awakened spirit of that weapon or item as a fetish. For example, Bob the Bloody had an awesome battle axe. He treats it with care. He cleans it, oils it, sharpens it. He wades into battle with it. His enemies, like Joe Joe the King of the Monkey hosts and Liz the devious community organizer fucking hate the thing.

Bob goes to the hisil one day for a stroll, and he finds his axe has fully awakened into a spirit. Not a weak one either, but one worthy of his axes awesomeness. He convinces it to bind itself as a fetish to the axe. Could the fetish rules function to make a axe more axey?

In first edition, there were awakened items, which is what happened when the spirit of a particular thing woke up.

Which makes it just a spirit that stays in an item, rules wise.

To use your example, would an ax spirit using its influence to make the ax cut deeper, or repairing the item, or using numina to act on its own be close enough?

Although said ax spirit would be an NPC not a magic item, logistically.

I'm not really sure how this would be different than any other Fetish...

Going by Willow now, or Wil for short. She/Her/Hers.

Sorry. I wasn't clear. I was referring to making the axe have a higher structure or damage bonus by binding the spirit to it. The same way a mage makes enhanced Items through matter, the werewolf could make a slight enhanced version of their axe. Using the same rules as Mage, but making the fluff sync with wtf

Probably if you were friendly enough with the spirit, or made sure to feed it.

But an alternative is using the Shaping Gift Perfection of Form.

You can already increase the damage bonus. Last sentence of the two dot fetish writeup. "Or something that replicates the benefits
of a modern technological item and improves on them by adding its rating to the item’s equipment modifier." No reason Structure/Durability can't follow the same rules.

Generally speaking, WtF seems to be leaning towards more tooth-and-claw for damage with werewolves, since its more in line with being, well, a werewolf, but its still possible with fetishes to have something like that. Same thing with Mage, really - you'll notice there's actually no mention in any spell for boosting a weapon's damage modifier anywhere. Not that a mage can't do it (Creative Thaum, and all), but its probably downplayed in exchange for focusing on more thematic methods of damage (actual spells). Weaponry in werewolf seems to be downplayed as well, likely for thematic reasons. So, you won't see it obviously out there, but its easily done.

            Anyways, there you go.
