Now, thinking more about the plot - I think it could be Aeon Group modern ( 2020s) that hire Assassins ( probably from Daughters of Jacobians) to take out more and more problematic Aeon ex-founding member - Dr. Primoris, a. k. a Davis Mal now! 😲

Okay, what events I would need to change to make 'Novas were in secret hunted down by Assassins - but Aberrant War finally broke free'?

Revert to something more like Aberrant 1e, with the Assassins replacing Project Proteus as the people who see Novas as a threat to humanity and are hunting them down.

Should Aeon Society then be mixed in this actions? Aeon in 2020s is still not very convinced in 'innocent' of Novas? Remember - it's alternate timeline, we did not have space station burning starting canonical Aberrant Era.

It depends on how and when Æon learned about the appearance of novas. The official history assumes that the Galatea Event was as big as it was because anything smaller wouldn't have cracked the Doyen Barrier and the world would have continued to be populated by stalwarts and mesmerists instead of novas and psiads (and then only in the wake of less extreme Events).

Perhaps in this timeline, Sara and Michael worked together on duplicating the Hammersmith Event, and their combined efforts resulted in a shared Quantum and Psi booster Event. Like a matter/antimatter reaction, where both the matter and antimatter cancel each other out but tremendous energy is released in the process, maybe the combination of Quantum and Psi energies being released together caused most of both energies to “cancel out” for the purpose of triggering Novas and Psis, but effectively magnified each other's effects for the purpose of breaking the Doyen Barrier.

And perhaps it also effectively supercharges the Flux output, resulting in daredevils becoming a permanent thing instead of fading away over the decades, and significantly increasing the population of Assassins.

That is, it becomes more of a Flux Event, with the side effect of upgrading stalwarts and mesmerists to novas and psiads.

I'd be inclined not to have Æon behind the hunting of the Aberrants; reserve that for the Assassin allegiances. Likewise, none of the Aberrant factions appear in this timeline; instead, use the factions from the core book.

More thinking about timeline - Maybe I simply made Project Proteus as secret United Nations Security Council branch that is 'controlling' new Nova 'threat' ( from POV of baselines ). Then Proteus is open to hire various Assassins Societies on newly coming up Novas - without telling Assassins they hunt superhumans in reality? 🤔

So I'm finally hammering my alternative Trinity Timeline for this variant...

2018 - We DID NOT get Galatea explosion. History to this day run as in real world.

2019-2021 - Pandemic of COVID19.

2022-2024 - Russia-Ukraine war. Russian Federation lost. Ukraine is accessing to European Union and NATO. War ended on May 9th, on Russian Victory Day, greatest Federation national holiday. Russia humiliated starts process that will end de facto annexed into China, in coming decades. ( by the time of Anima era. )

2025 - Tokyo Incident. ( Maybe on May 9th anniversary, to be symbolic? ) Variant of N-Day where Davis Mal did not broke Doyen Barrier - only made 'holes' in it. Novas start to show up, but are much, much less populate than in canon Aberrant era.

June of 2025 - United Nations Security Council secretly start Project Proteus - Assassins network that are ( unknowingly ) send to kill this few Novas that Erupted.

Rest of timeline events are just like in canon Continuum - minus 'Novas superheroes and splendor'. From time to time lonely Nova try to be a good guy - but they are often literally hunted by Project Proteus. It still ends in Aberrant Wars as we know them from canon.

Sum up of Timeline variant - Basically, we will have S-F thriller instead of canon Aberrant Era - in what Novas are strictly pointed and called as Aberrants from start - not many 'positive Novas' in this timeline.

Bonus is that we can fix some things with canon timeline - like how OpNet in this version is full virtual reality network, sending senses across, straight with GLASS implant of Anima era - not just '10G' data network in canon Aberrant era. 😎

OpNet is developed here in 2040s, but as Novas are very distrusted and Aberrant Wars started in 2056 - network do not have time to propagate. Instead, in this variant timeline, OpNet is introduced to whole world in times of Great Reconstructions after Wars, in 2070s. GLASS implant is making this network full virtual senses reality network from start.

The more I read about canon timeline implications in Anima, more I envision this 'darker' version of Continuum, the more I see that Assasins would hunt the newsent Novas, on government related assassinations contracts, Instead of building Project Utopia or Daedalus League, Novas would be powerful, good meaning, but only individuals - that are infiltrated by suspicions governments, wanting finally to take them out, afraid of their powers. In this timline variant, Novas = Aberrants from the start, at least to the general public. Analogy to Red Scare of 1950s America is good idea on this. Or at least how I see this.

For example, instead of Project Utopia given special status in 2024 by United Nations from Abberant, in Assasins secret directive was signed by all G10 countries to eliminate Novas. Day-to-day assassins' are contracted to take out those individuals.

By 2040-50s, Novas are so hunted down, they rebel - and create Brotherhood of Mutants similar society. By 2060s there is full blown Aberrant War.

Think this version of Continuum would be much more cynical and darker, laying fundaments for truly fascists' FSA, for example.

Much more rage and pain for both sides of the story...

Now this is probably the actual reaction governments would have to something like this: contain and eliminate. Humans would not go quietly into the good night. It's why we rule the earth now. Well said I may revamp my time line and story.

With finally getting TC Aeon 2E corebook from sale, I can finally finalise my Wyrd’s Darker Trinity Timeline. I use here a lot of timeline quotes from Anima and Aeon books, for fuller look on events.

2030s - 2050s - Nova Age? They start in hiding, unsure of their powers and hunted by Proteus. In year 2030, first Novas are proud enough to stand in the light and talk with media and their outcast family, without maniacal laugh – Queer Nova Alliance. On the other hand, from the Tokyo Incident forward, antisocial superhumans are pointed as Aberrants by governments agencies, like 9 or Alert Status 1 ( See Trinity Continuum Core Rulebook ) Term leaks to press in few cases, living from now on it’s own in Internet.

In those decades, Earth is divided on subject of Novas. Some points their humanity, under all the powers. Individuals invent hyperfusion and superconducting batteries, giving humanity unlimited cheap energy in some instances – but it’s always not enough. Even with reversing global climate change projects and famous ‘blooming Sahara Desert’ – worst enemies were other Novas, more ‘criminally minded’. And there are also baselines humans pointing not every superhuman is knight in the shining armour. There are those that steal and kill others simply cause they can. There are those taken by Davis Mal the Teragen movement. And there were simply Nova psychopats – those become Aberrants.

During the height of this time, some of superhumans built research bases on several asteroids and planets within the solar system and explored the stars. China’s controlled Nova led an exploration team to Khantze Lu Ge in 2040 and founded several other extrasolar colonies. In addition, several groups of humans paid space-traveling Novas to help them establish colonies on habitable extrasolar planets. A few of these colonies were founded in secret and records of most others were lost during the Internet Crash in 2067.

So with Tokyo Incident and creation of Project Proteus in 2025, did Nova Age really started before Aberrant Wars? Yes and no. With tumultuous times and society divided on Novas subject, some of them reached the heights of canonical Trinity Continuum. But also they were hindered by they more malice inducing brethren. Many project of official Nova Age were devised in this timeline, also, but most of the time were not so widespread and much more individual projects – until baseline humanity took those techs in their own hands. Particular example is OpNet.

In this variant timeline, Great Crash of 2067 destroys Internet – 10G to be precise – not OpNet. The later in this version is Nova tech developed in 2049, and beside great speeds and uniform laying ( that 10G also had ) OpNet let to send full senses across it. True virtual environment immersive simulation! But as it was Novas invention – it was very distrusted outside of superhumans supports and cults. When Aberrant Wars started in 2056 - network do not have time to propagate around the world. Instead, in this variant timeline, OpNet is introduced to whole world in times of Great Reconstructions after Wars, in 2070s – of course, ‘Aberrant protected’ in Gen 2 of tech. GLASS implant is making this network full virtual senses experience from start, hyping and propagating around the planet and Sol system.

2025 - 2105 — Japan — After Tokyo Incident in 2025, Japan close it’s borders for few months. In coming years, Japan becomes more and more isolation. Rumors say that Novas started there and government is exterminating with their sources. In 2053, Japan finally closes its borders and changes its name to match the one it uses internally — Nippon. Until 2105, no outsiders are allowed to step onto Nihonjin soil, and all contact with the outside world comes through the large offshore floating settlement of Makaro-Shima.

2079 — In response to declining Church membership and empty parishes resulting from the Urban Schism, the papal bull Qua dispensatione animam (“The Dispensation of Souls”) from Pope Innocent XV states that transubstantiation can occur via digital projection. So long as the sensation of consuming bread and wine are experienced by a real priest, any Catholic sharing that sensory experience may enjoy communion with God and receive transmission of the sacrament over OpNet. The Anglican and Orthodox Churches follow suit, as do other denominations of Christianity. At the same time, the pope elevates Friar Byrne Draper to bishop and sets him to lead the ecclesiastical province of Cascade in once Canada, with the expansive mandate to hold Mass for worldwide audiences projecting into the city’s municipal servers.

Rest of events in this timeline is the same as in the official canonical timeline. 😎
