Yep. Not at all unexpected, either. I anticipated this from the moment that I saw what happened to Paris in the setting, and the fact that there's no indication of anything like that after this era.

No Martian Invasion IS CANON? 🤔 The events of War off Worlds were Unwinder by Edison and it's company?Last edited by IanWatson; 08-18-2022, 09:47 PM.

Side topic - Aether Order of Murder and Caesar Consortium nicely leads to creation of Worshipful Company of Killers in 19th century for TC Assassins book... 😈

So I have a bit of naming problem with this timeline. I want to make story about British oppression in India in 1920s - so I want to use also Her Royal Highness’s Planetary Defensive Pact (HRH-PDP). However, without Martian Invasion, HRH-PDP was not created, at least under this particular name.🤔Some British Empire special division to experiment with Aether was sure to be seen - but not 'Planetary Defensive Pact'. Or does it? 🤔Last edited by wyrdhamster; 07-23-2022, 01:48 AM.

Also, not really informed properly, but it really looks like the end of Aether era is related to the Martian Invasion, that would leave Adventure with a lot of leftovers that not necessarily fit the pulp idea.
I would prefer tu run a Aether game from before the invasion, just to make exploration and the interaction with monsters the focus of the game, but its a personal thing.

You could certainly run AETHER without the Martians being involved, though I do think they add a lot to the era and setting.

Indications are that the "Martians" from Aether are the same aliens from Anima, and that their multi-dimensional empire gets wiped out by the Doyen. No portals to Mars means they have a harder time getting to Earth, which presumably delays the invasion. This delay may make them harder for the Doyen to destroy (since they wouldn't have been weakened fighting Earth when they Doyen's plan takes effect), but will also likely delay any invasion even further since they'll need to deal with the Doyen problem before they can begin invading. The end result would presumably be that they're either destroyed by the Doyen without ever invading Earth, or they defeat the forces set against them by the Doyen and then attack Earth at an unspecified point in the future.
The entire scenario also may explain why the Doyen didn't destroy Earth during the Adventure! era; humanity had already played a part in defeating one Quantum wielding alien empire, and the Doyen may have been interested in pointing our species at other threats before eliminating us.

This is probably a question better asked and answered much later in the manuscript reveal process.
