    I believe it's that the mage was always going to Awaken at a certain time. Reality is rewritten so that the Awakening is added to the timeline but not that they were Awakened from birth....

    Okay everyone chill out. Arc's not a fan. That's fine, but be nice or don't bother commenting.

    I think the word 'alphabet' is misleading in Satchel's comment and that maybe thinking of Chinese characters will make the distinction clearer. Only a few of the most basic Chinese characters bear even the most tenuous pictorial connection to the things they represent after millenia of abstraction.

    So the literalness and intuitiveness of your designs strike me as more like app icons. I could see them being used on a Free Council-run dark web site for subtly introducing Sleepers...

    I apologise for the lack of clarity in my first post. You raised the interesting question of the naming decisions and I was offering a guess as to what the writers' thought process may have been.

    I did not mean to suggest that King Solomon-as-mystic was an invention of gentile occultists, nor suggest that such a perspective is unproblematic.

    King Solomon is presented in the book as being an important positive figure in the history of the Pentacle. He is a wise and just sorcerer-king, openly using magic to rule Sleepers and keep the peace with other supernaturals.

    I assume the use of 'Yeshua' is to emphasise him as a historical subject and not to assume any particular relation to the later Christian religion. Does anyone know how he is usually called in academic biblical studies?

    In contrast, the character of King Solomon, within the fiction of the game, is explicitly a mage and comes from the legendary image used by Western occultists. So it makes sense to me to de-emphasize his historicity then with the later Hellenic name.
