[WIR] Cults of the Blood Gods

It's taken awhile but I'm finally ready to get around to doing an extensive read through of this book. I think Onyx Path Publishing has done a lot of the heavy lifting necessary to make V5 reach its full potential. I can't say that I prefer this to Chicago by Night 5th Edition but I can't say that it's far behind it either. Both books are ones that I believe rank up there among the best V:TM products ever.

I hope everyone will join me here in a discussion of Kindred religion, superstition, and idolatry! Plus, you know, that whole Hecata thing.

  • [WIR] Let the Streets Run Red (COMPLETE!)

I'm very fond of doing deep dives into Vampire: The Masquerade products and have enjoyed all the WIRs on this forum whether by Grumpy RPG Reviews or myself. It was a choice between doing Cults of the Blood Gods or Let the Streets Run Red. Despite having done some discussion of the latter already, I've decided to do the latter first and hopefully will get around to the former sometime later in the year. I hope my fellow posters will participate in this and we can discuss all the wonderful weird things about this supplement.

I'm looking forward to discussing this book...

started a topic WIR 5E Anarchs

    WIR 5E Anarchs

I had wanted to do this months ago, but life shoved me down, took my milk money and I’ve been preoccupied.

In the 5E VtM setting the only major groups of vampires are the Camarilla… and everyone else, whom the Lords of the Ivory Tower call the Anarchs. The Sabbat has collapsed and been turned inside out by a war. The Settites have joined the Anarchs. The Giovanni of old are gone, replaced by the Hekata (of even older). The Ravnos are gone, fallen with their death of their Founder. The Banu Haqim are also changed, with some having defected to the Camarilla and the others falling...

  • [V5] [WIR] The Chicago Folios - Completed 9/19/2020

    Hey folks,

I admit I have been waiting for this for some time. I was an initial backer of CHICAGO BY NIGHT's Kickstarter and it is a major reason that I returned in full force to Vampire: The Masquerade. Beckett's Jyhad Diary had brought me back after a ten year absence but the characters of Chicago are some of my all-time favorites. They're as close to me as Luke Skywalker and Frodo are to other fans.

One of the things I loved about CBN5E's Kickstarter was that it succeeded enough to have two supplement books added to it. As much as I love V5, I have to...

  • [WIR] Anarchs Unbound - Anarchy in the WOD

    I love Anarchs.

I love Anarchs to an unhealthy degree. This is something that everyone who reads my posts should already know. I love Anarchs more than any other element of the game except Malkavians and Chicago by Night. Indeed, if you could somehow combine Chicago by Night, Malkavians, and Anarchs then I might suddenly explode in a burst of sheer joy.

However, Anarchs kinda suck. I don't mean in the vampire way either. There's been some wonderful Anarch works but there's also been a lot of really lousy ones. I feel that Los Angeles by Night really derailed...

  • [WIR] Project: Twilight - A Werewolf book now very useful for vampires

The Second Inquisition is one of the biggest changes to the World of Darkness that has ever occurred. The destruction of the Vienna Chantry, the Mausoleum, the sacking of Mexico City, the sacking of Montreal, and the execution of all vampires in London have sent ripples through the gameline.

Not all of these were welcome changes as while the SAD, NSA, Society of Leopold, and other parties were detailed in HUNTERS HUNTED and updated in HUNTERS HUNTED II--the sheer scope as well as power of the SI took many fans by surprise. So this is going to be an attempt to deal with...

  • [WIR] Beckett's Jyhad Diary - The Big book of Metaplot

So, who loved Beckett's Jyhad Diary? It wasn't just my favorite V20 book, it was my favorite Vampire: The Masquerade book period. Maybe Chicago by Night 1st Edition is as good but even that doesn't quite pull it off. It managed to combine all of the craziness of 20 years of Vampire: The Masquerade into one volume and expand on a lot of plots I'd completely forgotten. I thought I was a master of obscure V:TM minutia but this is really a book that remembered everything and made it all coherent.

Why do I love it so?

    I love metaplot....

  • [WIR] The Gary Chronicles (Forged in Steel, Ashes to Ashes, Dust to Dust. etc)

    Hey folks,

We've just finished our enormous Chicago by Night 5E review and it was one of my most well-appreciated works. We analyzed the characters, changes, and additions to the classic setting of Vampire: The Masquerade 1st Edition updated to the 21st century. It was a six month long project and similar to some threads I did on the original Chicago by Night and Los Angeles by Night (before I was banned because I talked about what was in the "What's next on Game of Thrones" thread).

It turns out I'm not completely done with writing reviews...

  • [WIR] Chicago by Night 5th Edition

    Hey folks,

I'm a huge fan of Chicago by Night 1st Edition, 2nd Edition, the original Baptism by Fire, and most of the subsequent books set in the Rust Belt area. Really, the only books I don't care for are Blood Bond and Diablerie: Mexico which is only nominally set in the Chicago Chronicles anyway.

So, I was really excited about the prospect of a 5th Edition of Chicago by Night. I donated to the Kickstarter and was very pleased to get to read the completed manuscript. I did a re-read of the original CHICAGO BY NIGHT and LA BY NIGHT as well on that...
